Brooks is located at 38deg4’5’’N and 85deg42’40’’W (38.068139; -85.711202). Its north border is the county line with Louisville/Jefferson County to its north.
Interstate 65 forms the eastern edge of CDP. It can be accessed from Exit 121 (John Harper Highway). It is located 15 miles (24km) south of downtown Louisville via I-65.
The CDP covers 4.5 miles (11.7 km2) in total. 0.031 square miles (0.08km2) or 0.66% of the area is water.
Demographics According to the 2000 census[3], there were 2,678 residents, 1,032 households and 762 families in the CDP.
The average population density was 571.75 people per square mile (229.9/km2). At an average density of 231.2/sq mile (89.3/km2), there were 1,083 housing units.

The population was 0.90% Hispanic and Latino of any race. Out of 1,032 households, 34.1% had children younger than 18 years old living with them. 56.4% of these were married couples living together. 12.1% of the households had a female householder without a husband and 26.1% were not families. 20% of all households were composed of individuals and 4.7% of them had someone 65 years old or older.
